Trump scoffs at AI apocalypse warnings and vows to hit the gas on 'super intelligence'

President Donald Trump attempted to quell concerns Monday over rapidly advancing AI technology — which tech CEOs have increasingly warned could pose an existential threat to humanity — insisting that “robots” would not be attacking humans any time soon.

“The same people that said, ‘We’ll all be dead in twelve years because of Global Warming,’ a name since ‘reborn’ to Climate Change, because the Planet was cooling, not warming, and nobody was dead, are the people that are now saying that AI is going to kill us, that robots are going to attack us, and everything is a DISASTER,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.

“This is more of a Hoax than even that of RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA, UKRAINE, UKRAINE, UKRAINE, UKRAINE, and Climate Change! Whoever wins AI, WINS! We are leading now over China, and everyone else, and I’m going to keep it that way! I’m not going to stifle Growth, of something that will be bigger than the Industrial Revolution, or the Internet, itself.”

Despite Trump’s claim, Earth is not cooling, as refuted by NASA under Trump’s own administration in a report titled: “Nope, Earth Isn’t Cooling.” Also counter to Trump’s claim, climate change has already claimed “millions of lives annually through extreme heat” and other environmental factors, according to Health Policy Watch.

Trump has come out strongly in favor of the mass construction of AI data centers, a strong break with Americans, the majority of whom are against local data center development. He’s also pushed back on tech CEOs’ calls for their own industry to be regulated, frequently citing the need to get ahead of China on AI development.

“We will be careful, and that’s why we have the Department of Justice, and other Law Enforcement bodies, that will rein things in if we have to, but I will only encourage AI or, SI (SUPER INTELLIGENCE)!” Trump continued.
