'Ostracized' ex-Trump appointee who called him 'dear friend' now says he leads a cult

A longtime Trump loyalist who once called the president "a dear friend" says she has walked away from what she now calls a MAGA "cult," and she isn't looking back.

Carrie Prejean Boller, 39, the former Miss California USA and a Trump appointee to the Religious Liberty Commission, told "Piers Morgan Uncensored" this week that anyone who questions the movement gets exiled.

"As soon as you go against the cult leader—which I think Trump is the cult leader—then you all of a sudden are ostracized from the party," Boller said, according to The Daily Beast.

The conservative activist, named to the federal advisory panel in May 2025, lost her seat earlier this year following a contentious commission hearing on antisemitism. She has since become one of Trump's most vocal critics on the right, declaring in March that "MAGA is dead."

Boller pointed to the falling-out between Trump and figures such as Tucker Carlson, Thomas Massie, former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and ex-intelligence official Joe Kent — the same faction now openly floating a third party.

"It feels like we are coming out of an abusive relationship," she said. "That's just how I feel."

She said she would gladly line up behind that exiled group if they build a new movement, drawn to the very people MAGA pushed out.

Her comments land as Carlson escalates his own break with the president, unveiling a 10-point manifesto this week that invoked Jeffrey Epstein as a symbol of an untouchable elite. The defections deepen a widening fracture on the right heading into the midterms.
