Elon Musk drops drug test to prove he's clean — and accidentally doxes himself

Tech billionaire Elon Musk's stunt to disprove his reported drug use may have included a serious error that could blow up in his face, reported the Daily Mail on Thursday.

Musk has seethed ever since The New York Times reported he used so much ketamine during the 2024 campaign that it gave him bladder problems. He has acknowledged receiving a ketamine prescription for legitimate medical purposes, but denies any illicit use of the narcotic sedative.

This week, Musk dropped a copy of a hair analysis lab test on X that revealed him to be negative for all common narcotic substances — ketamine included. Musk appears to have been drug-free for a few months, as hair screening can detect traces of drugs for extended periods.

But Musk made a major mistake, according to the Mail.

"The results of the hair sample test performed at Fastest Labs of South Austin in Texas appeared to include the last four digits of Musk's Social Security number (SSN), a vital piece of personal identification in the US," said the report. "The last four digits of an SSN, when combined with other personal information like your name, birthdate, and address, can increase the risk of identity theft or fraud when used by hackers or scammers."

"Since sharing the revealing lab results on Wednesday, Musk has not commented about the possible leaking of his social security information or removed the post," the report added.

Musk has frequently used his own security and safety as a justification for censoring embarrassing information about himself from his platform, at one point suspending journalists who posted information about the itinerary of his private jet, even though that is public information filed with government agencies.
