'He's a snake': Elon Musk torches top Trump advisor as MAGA rift grows

Elon Musk didn't hold back when responding to a story in the New York Post about a Trump administration official who helped oust Musk.

The story discussed how Sergio Gor, who was responsible for vetting administration staffers, had not been properly vetted himself. Gor had not submitted his Standard Form 86, or SF-86 for short, which is required for government officials to be granted the appropriate security clearances. The 100-page document inquires about candidates' backgrounds, criminal histories, and professional experiences.

Gor was also responsible for convincing Trump not to hire one of Musk's allies to a key post at NASA.

"He's a snake," Musk said on his social media platform X.

The tension between Musk and Gor has been simmering for months, Politico reported. Musk allegedly refused to work with Gor after a March cabinet meeting where Trump said agency secretaries have control over cuts to their departments and not Musk or the Department of Government Efficiency.

Gor then helped tank Jared Isaacman's nomination to lead NASA, which appeared to set off Musk's latest tirade against Trump's "One Big, Beautiful Bill Act."

Musk's comments come at a time when the MAGA world appears to be fracturing over the conflict between Israel and Iran. Trump allies like Tucker Carlson, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), and commentator Charlie Kirk all oppose Trump sending troops to fight in the conflict.

Meanwhile, war hawks like Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) have told Trump to actively support Israel in the conflict.

“If that means providing bombs, provide bombs,” Graham said on CBS’s “Face the Nation” last Sunday. “If that means flying with Israel, fly with Israel.”
