JD Vance gets suspended from Bluesky 'just 12 minutes after first post': reports

U.S. Vice President JD Vance decided to join Bluesky, only to be abruptly suspended, according to news reports.

Vance made a big deal about his decision to get an account on what has become known as a more liberal competitor to Elon Musk's X network.

"Just set up my page on @bluesky, hope to see you guys there!" Vance wrote on X.

On Bluesky, the vice president posted a long argument about medical care for transgender youth and a certain Republican chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Something about the post appears to have triggered Bluesky's mechanisms, because he was promptly suspended, according to the New York Post's reporting.

In an article called "JD Vance gets suspended from X competitor Bluesky – just 12 minutes after first post," the Post reports, "Vice President JD Vance was suspended from the left-leaning social media platform Bluesky on Wednesday, just minutes after joining and sharing his first post."

"Within 12 minutes of the post, and Vance announcing on X that he had joined the platform, his Bluesky account was suspended, according to Axios journalist Marc Caputo. 'Not found. Account has been suspended,' read a message on Vance’s Bluesky page," the Post reports, before stating Vance was brought back.

"The ban was brief, as the vice president’s account was reinstated just minutes later," the report says. "It does not appear that the vice president’s post ran afoul of any of Bluesky’s community guidelines."
